California and Colorado had the nation’s lowest interest rates for 30-year fixed mortgages for the week ending Jan. 3, averaging 4.99 percent before points, Seattle-based Zillow.com reported Tuesday.
That was up from 4.88 percent from the week ending Dec. 27, the online valuation site reported.
Nationally, rates for the 30-year benchmark loan last week averaged 5.05 percent. That was up from 4.93 percent a week earlier, Zillow said.
Zillow compiles its averages from thousands of rates quoted by lenders to prospective buyers on its Web site.
